Are the outer edges of the rubber bases higher than the surface to act as a kind of backstop(to keep the balls on the putting green surface)?

The rubber edges sit approximately 0.25" above the putting turf so it does function as a backstop for missed putts. I hope that this helps and please let us know if you have any other questions.
